There is no reason for it to be illegal. If cigarettes and alcohol are legal there is no strong argument for pot to be illegal. Similar rules should be inforced such as not being drunk in public and driving under the influence, and of course age restrictions. Why not make the process safer and use the tax dollars to fix real problems.

The reason why pot is illegal is because there is no way possible to tax it. After all thats what this country runs on. It seems that people have forgotten why government was established. The reason it was established was to protect the rights of the american people. But, it seems as if the government has done nothing but try to take the rights away from the american people. I mean what does it matter if a person wants to get "high", thats their right as a human and an american. Because I am almost positive that when the constitution was written that there was no mention of drugs and the ability to use them. Am i saying to legalize all drugs-NO- i am just saying lets make the more non-lethal drugs be a choice and not a trip to jail.

there should be no reason why marijuana use is not legal. the US would make more money and make people happier and stay out of jail for using marijuana. Marijuana is NOT a gateway drug to other drugs. the people that use them make the decision to switch up the drugs to feel a better "high". I moved to florida from california.I Was deffinatly surprised an disapointed florida wasnt one of the 13 legal for medical use an less punishable states.Things need to change The last time anything was updated on marijuana in florida was in the 70's things change.Its time for florida.I jus moved here.An ive already met many people with legitment jobs that smoke it.I love the stuff.Dont see nothin wrong with it..In california we smoke it anywhere we want.Sept around schools an children of course...It helps my grandmother with her artharitis an for me to sleep.Its less bad than alchohol by a lonnnnng shot.Im for it!

I've been a so called "pothead" for over 6 years. Marijuana in my opinion, is a mood stabilizer, just like lithium is for bi-polar people. Just bacause there are some stupid motherfuckers out that can handle weed doesn't mean that it affects everyone the same way. Personally, I smoke alot of pot and I can function just fine doing upholstery. I have done everything from motorcycle seats to full couchs and the customers are never disappointed that a "stoner" is doing the work all they care about is the end result. So can someone explain to me, a common working man, why smoking some fuckn herb is so god damn wrong.

I have been smokin green for two and a half years in that time I have never acted as stupid as when I have been drinkin. Experts say all this bull@$#!about it being so bad for you but it is no worse then alchol and I have never heard of one person picking at fight just because they were stoned. I say put a age limit on the sell of Cannabis say 21 just like alchol and let it go the crime would go down the prisons would not be filled with people who just smoke pot.

Legalize it and tax it. Cigarettes in the state of CT. are 8$ and change. A one pint bottle of cheep Vodka 5$ or under. It is messed up that liquor is so cheep a 8th grader can save his lunch money for 3 days and go out Friday afternoon and have the money to get him or her self booze. This i can stand by i stared drinking before smoking pot. I was 14 years old when I got my first tastes of booze. It was ok to get drunk in my house hold for my dad was and still is an alcoholic. My mom bought me cigarettes at the age of 15. But despite all this smoking pot was wrong. All the criminal crime I have committed I have committed wile extremely intoxicated and all before the age of 21.

I've been smoking marijuana for a number of years, and personally, the only problems I've ever encountered due to marijuana use are:
-Being arrested
-Being criticized
-Burning myself a couple times, along with a few hairs
-A soggy mouth from eating too many chips

I'd like to think of myself as a quite open-minded person, but i do NOT understand why someone would consider marijuana directly harmful in any way. I think it's generally excepted that the biggest problem with marijuana use is the fact that it's illegal. Legalization would solve EVERY problem concerning marijuana use.

I am 51 years old. I quit smoking cannabis at age 23. within 1 year I became depressed and have been diagnosed as bipolar at age 38. I have been on several different bipolar meds over the last 11 years but have always felt like I couldn't get comfortable unless I took Xanax which is highly addictive. A year ago I started using cannabis again in very small quantities (2 tokes). I have found that it relaxes me and makes me easier to get along with. I believe that if we would quit treating this plant(Kaneh-bosm) that God created as something taboo and explore the benefits it has to offer we would be surprised to find that it is good for us. I challenge everyone to Google Kaneh-bosm and look at it's history in industry, religion and medicine. It's time to take off the blindfold of propaganda and be honest with ourselves and our fellow-citizens.

Marijuana should be legalized for a number of reasons. it would help get this country OUT of debt by selling it and distibuting it like beer and tobacco. It would also free up the judical system and jails. it is by far SAFER ( not lassed with anything). it takes about 100 joints to over dose smoking one after another, while it takes 20 beers in an hour or 12 shots of whiskey in an hour. almost half of the country supports it. theres more people that smoke than the government knows about but there not exercising there freedom of speech.

It is completely ridiculous how the government spends billions of dollars every year to stop marijuana use. Also, think of how much money they spent on keeping small-amount pot offenders in jail.
